Vikings Vault to State: A Legacy of Excellence Continues The Valparaiso High School gymnastics team is headed to the IHSAA State Meet this weekend, carrying with them a historic tradition of success and fresh momentum from dominant Sectional and Regional performances. As one of the most decorated programs in Indiana history, the Vikings are ready to add another chapter to their storied record book. -Sectional and Regional Champions- The Vikings secured their spot at the state meet with powerhouse performances at the Crown Point Sectional and the Portage Regional. -The Vikings to Watch- Led by head coach Becky Juergens, VHS Gymnasts have shown incredible poise throughout the regular season and post-season, led by senior Ava Moe, juniors Camryn Smith, Sophia Kartje, and Coe Krischke and freshman Gianna Gonzalez. -A Program Built on Tradition- Valparaiso isn't just a competitor; they are the gold standard for Indiana high school gymnastics. The Vikings hold the record for the most team state championships in IHSAA history - 14 State Titles including 1981, 1991, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2021, and 2023. -Teams To Watch- In addition to the Vikings, there are many outstanding teams competing at this year’s State Meet, including Angola, Carroll, Homestead, New Palestine, and Columbus North, along with Region competitors Portage and Lake Central. -The Road to the Podium- As the Vikings prepare for the State Finals, they look to build on their 11 runner-up finishes and potentially add a 15th championship trophy to the case.
