VALPARAISO, IN – It is Homecoming week here at Valparaiso High School! Homecoming is a special weeklong event that celebrates Valpo students and alumni. It is an exciting week and VHS wants to celebrate with you! On Friday, September 29th, there will be a Homecoming Parade beginning at 4:30 p.m. The parade will begin at Benjamin Franklin Middle School and conclude at Valparaiso High School. Keep a lookout for our community and student groups in the parade as well as lots of student-decorated floats and smiling faces. After the parade, there will be a Homecoming Tailgate at VHS behind the field house from 4:30-6:00 p.m. We welcome the community, students, and VCS families to enjoy the tailgate! At the tailgate, you can find many activities for the whole family to enjoy. Valpo Velvet will be present with their ice cream truck! A DJ will be performing with fun music and there will be face painting and a photo booth available, too. If you didn’t get a chance to purchase a Homecoming t-shirt, there will be shirts sold at the tailgate for $15! You can also pick up a $10 Viking helmet to show your Viking pride. These items for sale will be Cash Only. The Homecoming football game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. The Vikings (4-2) will take on the Pirates from Merrillville High School (5-1). Be sure to stick around for the whole game! At halftime, the Homecoming court will be presented and you’ll also enjoy performances by the VHS Vikettes Dance Team, the VHS Band, and the VHS Varsity Singers!
