Varsity vs Hamilton Southeastern High School In the second game of the day, the Vikings went up against Hamilton Southeastern, an Indianapolis school that came into the tournament 3-3 but is much better than their record indicates. The Vikings were held to twelve points at halftime by a 2-3 zone that did not allow the offense to get any good looks. HSE continued to play in a zone throughout the whole game and forced Valpo to score only 45 points. Although Valpo was able to turnover the Royals 18 times, that was not enough to overcome the offensive struggles the team faced. The Vikings lost game two 61-45 and moved to 7-3. Jack Smiley led the way with 18 points while grabbing five rebounds. Caden Crowell scored seven points, and Phil Amones finished the game with five. Hamilton Southeastern went on to later win the holiday tournament, beating Munster in the final. -Michael Opperman, VHS Senior
